The gallery has resumed regular business hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm. We welcome you
back and ask visitors to observe standard safety protocols.

This exhibition marks 40 years of gallery history for Linda Hodges. We celebrate this milestone with a March 2021 show of artists from the gallery’s past, present and future.

Linda grew up in Manhattan and was a frequent visitor to the many museums and galleries

there. Raised by art collecting parents, she purchased her first painting at age sixteen in a Paris street fair. Linda studied Art history at the University of Michigan where her appreciation for and love of art continued to grow. Linda’s youth was influenced heavily by the presence and study of art. She continues to further her knowledge of and devotion to the art world everyday.

The desire to become an art dealer became a reality in 1981 while living in Seattle. Her career began when she started working for the Seattle branch of Arlene Schnitzer’s Fountain Gallery of Portland. She and Laura Russo became co-directors there. After the Fountain Gallery’s closure in 1983, Laura opened her own gallery in Portland and Linda founded The Hodges/Banks Gallery with Yvonne Banks in 1983.

In 1989 Yvonne left to establish her art consulting company and Linda moved the Linda Hodges Gallery to Occidental Avenue in the heart of Pioneer Square for many years, until settling into her current space on First Ave South in 2000.

Dale Cotton joined the gallery in 2011, eventually becoming gallery director. He has curated many group shows, produced books and catalogs for individual artists and initiated Blur Gallery in the mezzanine space for emerging artists.

The gallery thanks all the artists and clients who have been supportive throughout our tenure. Without the talented and visionary array of artists and amazing community, we would not have persisted through the ups and downs of these past four decades. This exhibition is a recognition, a thank you and a show of grace for all we have shared over

the last 40 years.
