Robert Helm was a Pullman, WA based painter. Now deceased, Helm painted on wooden panels and applied wood inlays, creating timeless and mysterious images featuring objects, plant forms, and animals. He created his own frames for many of these pieces, heightening the impression that one is looking through a window into a personal universe.

Helm's work is nationally featured in several contemporary expressions: woodworking, panel painting, landscape art, as well as regional and narrative art. The subdued earth tones of his palette lend a rustic quality to the work, evoking the rural Palouse region of southeast Washington State.

Robert Helm received a BA and an MFA from Washington State University, where he was also Professor of Fine Arts for over 30 years.
