   Sherrie Wolf

Sherrie Wolf's new paintings depict still life arrangements that incorporate landscape paintings from art historical sources. Works by artists Albert Bierstadt and George Stubbs are meticulously rendered to serve as backdrops for the still life objects in the foreground. Wolf likes to set the still-life stage using all the props of her collected visual history, in a desire to add drama to the dialog between reality and illusion. The scenario that unfolds is realist in nature with surrealist leanings.

Wolf has exhibited her paintings and prints nationally for over twenty-five years. She recently completed a public commission for the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, and she will be the subject of a television broadcast on the "Oregon Art Beat" program of Oregon Public Broadcasting in April 2003. Wolf is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Oregon Artist Fellowship from the oregon Arts Commission in 2000.
