Affiliated Artist    Brad Rude   Images   |   Resume    Known for his idiosyncratic animal portraits, Brad Rude undertakes to tell a story by utilizing a personal visual language of symbolic elements. Man made tools, vessels, found objects and other ephemera are used to create an intricate harmony in which the artist intuitively seeks to to understand the relationship of all things to each other. Rude's animals anchor a universe where gravity is defied; perching precariously on stilts, rocks, fossils and tree stumps. Sometimes they are riding on wagons or floating in air, and often they are translucent or metamorphing into other creatures. Brad Rude's paintings and sculptures combine the ordinary and extraordinary, suggesting transformation and the dynamic pulsing that underlies all life.
