   Kenna Moser

In her new exhibit at Linda Hodges Gallery, Kenna Moser responds to a new, more rural, environment by incorporating natural objects collected from around her studio into her art. These objects are painted on the surface of a handwritten antique letter which has been glued to a wood panel and covered in beeswax. The beeswax is applied while hot, then smoothed and hand-buffed to impart a satiny finish. The result is a softly translucent painting recalling a 17th century botanical etching or pages from a natural history journal. These are intimately nostalgic works which speak to a personal relationship with history and the natural environment.
