   Gaylen Hansen

A longtime resident of the Palouse county in Eastern Washington, Hansen is well known and respected for his witty and eccentric allegories, grounded in the region. His paintings are an evocative commentary on the world of nature and a particular man's perspective on it. From the Hansen viewpoint, the accepted hierarchy of the world is turned topsy-turvy, and a new found relativity is created among those who inhabit it. At once playful and gripping, Hansen's paintings provide a refreshing and insightful twist to the "tall tale". Hansen's simple subject matter sometimes reflects fantastic or dreamed situations painted in exaggerated states and light-hearted scenarios. According to Hansen, his inspirations are down-to earth.
