Affiliated Artist    Jack Chevalier    This frequently exhibited and much collected painter and object - maker is a thirty year veteran of the formal discourse that has evolved since the advent of minimalism and conceptualism. His sensibilities have at times been influenced by abstract expressionism, photo based and neo-indigenous art.   Chevalier's earlier works were complex large-scale wood "canvases" covered with dense layers of paint on carved and projected surfaces. Gradually he distilled and reduced his paintings to focus on geometric shapes and cutouts.
