Canadian artist Jeremy Borsos who exhibits extensively in the Northwest, Canada and Europe, has created an ironic body of work in which history, landscape and portraiture are politicaly linked in a lowbrow versus highbrow, classicist versus modernist commentary.
Borsos, classically trained in New York, ponders the place of contemporary painting in our society and sees this portfolio of work as a analysis of the fractured nature of art today. Due to this schism, Borsos wonders if all there is left to do is comment on the history of art. In doing so he has created what he refers to as "misplaced classsicism" that is based as much on the place of painting in history as the painting as object.
