The Linda Hodges Gallery presents Seattle artist Jennifer Beedon Snow in her 4th one-person exhibition of oil on panel paintings inspired by the post World War II suburban environment typified by Levitt Town developments and ranch style architecture.
Beedon Snow's snapshot compositions are uninhabited and are more about design, color and memories of place than recordings of any specific interaction. Houses and their settings; yards, fences, toys and lawn chairs, are part of Beedon Snow's repertoire of iconic elements from a bygone era. The artist's technique allows the rich, elegant material of oil paint - applied with a palette knife in heavy impasto - to contradict the subject matter and leave the viewer to construct a personal narrative.
