Continuing her exploration of what she describes as "color shape paintings," Oberheide presents new examples of work in a series that originally began as paintings of trees and tree trunks. The artist, who is primarily concerned with a color relationships, especially variations in hue, value and intensity, reduces the tree forms into elemental "shapes of color," and arranges them in a row across the canvas. The color shapes in the rows are slightly tilted with uneven ends, imparting an organic quality and giving each painting a strong total image with its own particular character and expression.
