The Linda Hodges Gallery welcomes Piper Snow in her first exhibition at the gallery. Presenting a new body of ceramic figurative sculpture, Snow derives her inspiration from her imagination and memory. Rarely is her work predetermined, although at times her figures will resemble someone in her life, as though she glimpsed them through the framework of her memory. Snow enjoys the rawness of clay, and she quickly carves and sculpts her work in order to give it a sense of spontaneity. She then glazes the work with deep, saturated colors and fires it at different temperatures, imparting her characters with a wonderful, almost cartoon-like aesthetic.
