Linda Hodges Gallery Seattle presents artist Gayle Bard in a one person exhibition of new paintings. Bard is known for her luminous and timeless compositions of terrain, sea and sky; elegies to the grace and mystery of nature.
In this new body of work, Bard is particularly interested in moonlit scenes; times when the full moon re-colors the landscape. She also revisits some of her favorite places in the Pacific Northwest, including the Willamette Valley in Oregon and the Palouse country in eastern Washington.
Working from numerous photographs for a single composition, her meticulous painting technique involves layering many thin coats of paint as she transitions from areas of deep shadow to brilliant light.
