In her fifth exhibition at Linda Hodges Gallery, Canadian artist Karen Yurkovich presents a body of new paintings, which she describes as "being in limbo." A term she uses to reflect on the subject matter of her paintings, as well as our place in nature. Fruit, tree branches and flowers make up the objects in Yurkovich's work, and they are used to propose connections between things, as part of a cultural and physical context. The artist asks what kind of "nature" do we want, as every day nature is changed by biotechnology, pollution, industry and development, and how do we see ourselves reflected in it?
